Training Your Dog Does Not Have To Be Hard

A well-behaved dog makes for a happier home. Dogs that behave well are a pleasure and will fill your days with brightness. So to make your relationship even stronger, keep reading!

Crate train your puppy in small steps, so that the training is most effective. Allow them to feel comfortable in their crate by closing the door and feeding them treats while praising them. Start with short times numbering in mere seconds, and increase the intervals gradually. If the puppy gets too upset then you increased the time too much, too fast.

When you verbally correct your dog, do it quickly and concisely. Avoid launching a lengthy tirade against your pet and his naughty behavior. Say no and let them know what you would rather have them do. Also speak with authority so they understand you mean business.

Proper and generous rewards are critical to dog training. Knowing when to give him a treat, and how much, is paramount. This is because dogs tend not to understand what it’s being rewarded for when they do not get it at the proper time.

Make sure that you set a calm tone whenever you set foot in a room where your dog is. Your dog should have the patience to wait for you to get settled and signal that you are ready to play with him. Do not acknowledge his presence when you enter, so the atmosphere remains controlled until you decide when his play time begins.

Do not tie more than one dog in the same area. The restraints for each dog can become tangled and in an effort to free themselves, they can be injured. If the dogs are different sizes, it could be even worse. A small dog could easily choke to death if it were to get too tangled up with a larger breed.

A lot of pet owners do not realize that you can easily train a dog and it does not take as much as they thought. A bit of change on our part along with dedication to the training session will always bring about great rewards.
